Infographic: How Social Media Influences Auto Purchasing Decisions

As Facebook tries to court auto manufacturers for ad space, it’s becoming evident that social media and peer reviews do play a part in the purchasing decision.

A new infographic from Crowdtap shows that 87 percent of people polled valued friends’ comments on social media when considering an automotive brand. Additionally, 80 percent of those asked by Crowdtap said that they’d trust their social network over a salesperson for advice.

March Madness: Kentucky Most Shared On Social; Duke Most Written About

Though Duke emerged as the NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball champions, a new infographic from Mediametric shows that news about Kentucky, once considered the heavy favorite to win, was the most shared of any school on Facebook and Twitter.

Duke did lead the pack in media coverage, and several of their athletes were the focus of articles shared on Facebook and Twitter. The most popular athlete in the news shared on social? Wisconsin’s Frank Kaminsky.

LG G4 leaked photos reveal 6 beautiful leather casing options

LG has been teasing its new G4 flagship smartphone at full force for quite some time, but it appears the company accidentally leaked a microsite with dozens of photos and renderings that reveal what to expect when it launches later this month.

Mashable contributor Evan Blass first discovered the microsite — which has since been removed — and posted an image to Twitter. While the G4 won't officially debut until the company's press conference on April 28, we learned a bit more from the exposed shots.

LONDON — It's barely a fortnight since UKIP leader Nigel Farage was metaphorically beaten up at the televised election debates and now he's been asked to duel in Hyde Park.

A Polish prince who lives in London, Janek Zylinski, has said in an online video that he's sick of discrimination in the UK and singled out Farage as one of the worst perpetrators. He wants to meet him to thrash out the issue in central London.

“I’ve had enough of the discrimination against Polish people in this country," Zylinski says in the clip. "The most idiotic example I've heard of has been Mr Nigel Farage blaming migrants for traffic jams on the M40. Enough is enough, Mr Farage." Read more...

People who share revenge porn in the UK can now be jailed for 2 years

People who share explicit images without consent can be jailed for up to two years under new laws that came into effect in the UK on Monday.

The new law means that sharing explicit images via text, email, social networks and messaging apps without the consent of the person in the photo is now an offence. It also covers the sharing of photos offline.

The law, which is part of the Criminal Justice and Courts Act, makes revenge porn a specific offence. Up until now prosecutors had to prosecute cases using existing laws such as the Communications Act, Malicious Communications Act, and the Protection from Harassment Act. Read more...
