It's so hot that a college girl and her friends are apparently passing over chiseled frat boys for, as the young woman described it, this "nice balance between a beer gut and working out."
Peter Holley, a reporter for the Washington Post, has a provocative explanation for frenzy, and it has to do with changing gender roles.
In a column published Monday, Holley argues that whereas women once searched for a strapping young man to support a family, they no longer need a man capable of hard labor thanks to the rise of office work. This is a terrific turn of events for men who don't like the gym — or the pressure to look like the Abercrombie & Fitch models that Holley describes as "half-naked men with rock-hard bodies."
