Military plane crashes in Spain, shutting down Seville airport

A military transport plane crashed near San Pablo Airport in Seville, Spain, on Saturday afternoon local time, killing several of the crew members onboard, Spain's prime minister said. A confirmed death toll remains unclear.

Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy added that up to 10 people may have been on board the training flight.

Two people were reportedly taken to the hospital with serious injuries, according to Spanish newspaper El Pais, which cited local officialsMashable has not yet been able to confirm that information.

Rajoy expressed his sorrow and cancelled several campaign events that were scheduled to take place in Tenerife, Spain's most populous island, in light of the crash. Read more...
