More than 1,100 people are taking refuge in shelters in Guam after the region was hit by a powerful Pacific typhoon.
Winds from Typhoon Dolphin battered the U.S. island territory in the Western Pacific as the center of the storm glanced off it late Friday local time.
Officials say one injury occurred, and that person was taken to Guam Memorial Hospital. Department of Homeland Security spokeswoman Jenna Gaminde had no additional information on the injury.
