Volvo is showing off an innovative design for a built-in child seat concept which could replace a standard front passenger's seat.
The company has released photos and details for what it calls an Excellence Child Seat, a rear-facing child seat on a pedestal
The seat itself faces backwards, allowing whoever is in the back seat the opportunity to interact with the baby, rather than having to turn around from the passenger's seat to do so. The seat also features a storage drawer for diapers, toys and baby accessories.
Rear-facing seats are safer too: for babies with undeveloped neck muscles, the force of a crash in a front-facing seat can be fatal.
