A newly discovered galaxy was named after Cristiano Ronaldo, 'cause why not

Famed soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo is an inspiration for many.

A team of scientists at the European Southern Observatory (ESO) recently discovered a distant galaxy, dubbed CR7. The real name of the galaxy is actually COSMOS Redshift 7, but a a footnote in a news release discussing the galaxy revealed Ronaldo was the true inspiration behind CR7.
