Wisconsin town bans kangaroos as service animals

In a blow to marsupial supporters in the small town of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, city officials have implemented changes to the municipal code, forbidding the use of kangaroos as service animals

The move comes following an incident at a McDonald's earlier this year

In February, Diana Moyer walked into a Beaver Dam McDonald's with a baby kangaroo wrapped in a blanket and confined to a carseat, claiming it was a "therapy animal," according to the Daily Citizen. A customer filed a complaint and Moyer was asked to leave

No citation was issued by police at the time, because no city ordinances forbade kangaroos as support animals. Read more...
